@DCIG Recognizes the @Gridstore GS-1000 as a Game-Changing Storage System for the SMB http://bit.ly/qMaftS

DCIG Recognizes Gridstore's Scale-Out NAS as a Game-Changing Storage Solution for the SMB at a Fraction of the Cost of Traditional NAS

Research Firm Identifies Next-Generation Scale-Out NAS System Breaks Traditional Storage Array Models to Deliver Enterprise Class Availability, Performance and Scalability

Mountain View, Calif. – September 27, 2011 – Gridstore™, the leader in scale-out NAS solutions for the SMB market, today announced that DCIG, a leading storage-focused research firm, has recently recognized the Gridstore Scale-out NAS solution as a game-changing storage system for the small to mid-sized business (SMB). It identifies the Gridstore offering as one that uniquely offers an attractive entry-level price point without requiring SMBs to sacrifice availability, performance or scalability.

The DCIG analysis, “In Storage Systems Under $5000 There IS a Difference,” written by Jerome Wendt, highlights how SMBs have been living with the limitations in their storage arrays for years. DCIG’s research has shown that storage arrays are commonly limited by having only one storage controller which impacts availability in the event of an outage or disruption. The firm also points out that traditional storage arrays for the SMB limit a company’s ability to scale because they only offer a fixed amount of storage capacity.

“The Gridstore Scale-out NAS solution changes this model,” said Wendt. “Like these other storage arrays, the Gridstore systems lists at under $5,000 so it is affordable. However it does not force SMBs to sacrifice the other characteristics that they want their storage solutions to possess (availability, performance or scalability) just so they can implement a storage solution that fits within their budget.”

DCIG points out that to achieve high availability, performance and scalability without high cost, Gridstore solutions feature a “virtual controller.” This software-based solution enables parallel I/O from a number of virtual controllers (up to 100 or more) while simultaneously enabling the solution to scale in capacity, bandwidth and processing power simply by adding more storage nodes.

“SMBs today are faced with more demands than ever to maintain information availability along with high performance and the flexibility to grow dynamically as business demands change,” said Kelly Murphy, CEO, Gridstore. “The DCIG analysis underscores our view that SMBs shouldn’t have to compromise when it comes to their data storage needs. We deliver a building block approach to storage that offers enterprise-class performance, reliability and scalability– at an affordable price.”

@StorageSwiss identifies @Gridstore 2.0 as successful Scale-Out NAS GUI http://bit.ly/oKTdtJ

Storage Switzerland Hands-On Review Demonstrates the Gridstore Scale-Out NAS Solution Delivers on the Promise of Harnessing Multiple File Servers Into a Single, Powerful Storage Grid

Mountain View, Calif. – September 21, 2011 – Gridstore™, the leader in scale-out NAS solutions for the SMB market, today announced that analyst firm Storage Switzerland rates part two of their testing of the Gridstore 2.0 solution’s graphical user interface (GUI) a success. In the hands-on review, “Driving the Scale Out GUI –Gridstore Scale Out NAS Test Drive,” Storage Switzerland’s senior analyst, George Crump, shares his “test drive” findings following a second look at the Gridstore Scale-out NAS solution.

“A key testing area with scale-out or grid storage systems is how well does the system’s management software deliver on the promise of multiple storage servers acting as one. There are times during the administrative day that you want to manage all these nodes as one entity while there are other times when you want to be able to see and manage the individual nodes,” said Crump. “I am happy to report that the Gridstore handles this challenge quite nicely. Gridstore has successfully balanced the management of a single grid while allowing detailed inspection of the nodes within that grid.”

“With Gridstore’s Scale-out NAS solution, every organization, regardless of the size of its data storage requirements, can have the enterprise-class capabilities it requires without compromising performance, reliability or risk,” said Kelly Murphy, CEO, Gridstore. “Storage Switzerland has validated in their test drive evaluation that our next-generation NAS solution eliminates single points of failure and is simple and cost effective to manage and grow based on our customer’s business requirements.”

The Storage Switzerland paper covering the test drive of the Gridstore 2.0 solution GUI will be the second in a three-part series of reports. The report includes video of the lab’s testing of the scale-out GUI. Storage Switzerland will be evaluating the Gridstore 2.0 solution’s performance over a 90-day period and providing additional reports including results of read/write tests.
The Gridstore Scale-out NAS storage solution offloads storage processing onto an unlimited number of Virtual Storage Controllers running in client side machines. This enables very simple low cost storage nodes to be used in parallel while generating exceptional performance, scaling and reliability that goes beyond any product in its class.

@Metalogix Outlines Best Practices for Overcoming SharePoint Content, Migration, Management & Storage Challenges http://bit.ly/pu1cbb

Metalogix Outlines Best Practices to Optimize SharePoint Content, Migration, Management and Storage for Better Customer Experience

New Whitepaper Shares “Four Practical Solutions to Free Your Content with SharePoint”

WASHINGTON, DC, September 20, 2011 – Metalogix Software, the leading provider in content lifecycle management (CLM) solutions for Microsoft® SharePoint®, Exchange®, and legacy environments, today revealed key best practices for freeing enterprise content and optimizing SharePoint to enable knowledge workers to be more productive. In the new whitepaper, “Four Practical Solutions to Free Your Content with SharePoint,” Metalogix outlines how today’s data-rich organizations can overcome common CLM issues to optimize SharePoint content, migration, management and storage.

With the recent explosion in data growth, legacy systems across organizations often constrain knowledge workers, leading to frustration and limiting productivity. Microsoft SharePoint has become a compelling choice to help manage rapidly expanding content and empower workers to effectively collaborate and share data. However, before the benefits of SharePoint can be fully realized, organizations must be prepared to overcome common SharePoint content, migration, management and storage challenges.

“Many organizations have islands of content retained in legacy enterprise content management (ECM) systems including eRoom, Oracle Content Server, Stellent, Documentum and MCMS 2002,” said Stephen Cawood, director of product marketing, Metalogix. “Ultimately, this trapped content limits user productivity, while placing undue management and cost burdens on servers, storage and IT resources. Yet, legacy systems are not the only limitations common in today’s content infrastructures. Even those organizations that are fully reliant on SharePoint for their ECM processes face challenges in terms of migration, management and storage. By following best practices to free their corporate content, organizations can remove the silos that are limiting user productivity and optimize their infrastructure for a more productive and reliable ECM experience.”

To help organizations deal with the content explosion and free their corporate content, Metalogix has outlined four freedom best practices. These best practices include:

1. Embrace Growth. Unstructured data comprises 95 percent of today’s digital content. When this unstructured content is placed in SharePoint, it creates binary large objects (BLOBs) that can significantly impact SharePoint storage requirements. Organizations can embrace growth and prepare for the unstructured content by implementing a solution, such as Metalogix StoragePoint, which will offload BLOBs to lower cost storage solutions. This will reduce SharePoint storage costs while right-sizing the SQL Server database for improved SharePoint performance.

2. Consolidate and Optimize Siloed Content. For SharePoint to be most effective, it should include as much data as possible from all parts of the organization. When planning a consolidation project, it is important to evaluate why current information silos, including file shares, legacy ECM systems, and departmental SharePoint deployments, exist across the organization. It’s also critical to understand all of the use cases for each system to assure they can be accommodated within a consolidated SharePoint environment. Using a migration solution, such as Metalogix Migration Manager for SharePoint, can automate consolidation, migration and optimization while minimizing downtime.

3. Upgrade the SharePoint Information Architecture. The SharePoint information architecture includes how site collections, sites, document libraries, and lists are organized within the SharePoint structure. Consolidating or upgrading to SharePoint 2010 presents an ideal opportunity to reorganize your SharePoint implementation and ensure that your information architecture is future-ready. Since major releases of SharePoint only come along every three years or so, re-examining and updating the information architecture should definitely be part of any upgrade or migration.

4. Consider SharePoint in the Cloud. With the release of Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint 2010 is now available in the cloud and SharePoint Online is poised to gain momentum. A key advantage is that SharePoint Online can be used in many different scenarios to move content non-disruptively to the cloud. A use case that is quickly becoming popular is hybrid cloud environments that leverage both SharePoint on-premises and SharePoint Online. This gives organizations the freedom to manage more data between on-premises servers and the cloud – whether it is a private cloud, multi-tenant environment, hybrid cloud, or some combination. The freedom and flexibility is compelling. Metalogix is the only migration vendor approved by Microsoft for use with Office 365.

The breadth of features and high user adoption of SharePoint means that many organizations are now focusing on SharePoint for their comprehensive content management needs. Yet there are still some content, migration, management, and storage challenges that must be addressed before organizations can fully achieve their SharePoint goals. To help, Metalogix outlines these four content freedom practices in detail along with recommendations on how to apply them in the whitepaper, “Four Practical Solutions to Free Your Content with SharePoint.” To download the complete paper, please visit: http://ping.fm/GfA4k

Gridstore Discusses Storage In The Virtualized World During Interface 2011

Show Attendees See Benefits of Gridstore’s Next-Generation Scale-out NAS Solution To Reduce Risk, Complexity and Cost of Sprawling NAS Islands

Mountain View, CA – Gridstore™, the leader in scale-out NAS solutions for the SMB market, today announced that it will lead a discussion titled, “21st Century Storage – For the Next Generation Data Center,” during Interface 2011 in Phoenix, AZ, September 22, at 11:10 a.m. The session will highlight why traditional storage technologies are obsolete in the virtualized data center, due to high cost, reduced performance and increased complexity. While current server virtualization allows you to do more with less, Gridstore’s virtual storage grid technology allows you to harness the resources of your computer infrastructure into the most powerful platform available.

The Gridstore Scale-out NAS solution combines the simplicity, convenience and affordability of traditional NAS with the scalability, performance and reliability of enterprise storage at half the cost of standalone solutions. The Gridstore next-generation storage management platform consolidates distributed NAS islands into a powerful, enterprise-class storage grid. As a result, the Gridstore Scale-out NAS solution is an ideal offering for small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) and distributed enterprises because it eliminates storage sprawl and combines the ease of NAS with the scalability and performance of enterprise-class storage.

Gridstore’s Scale-out NAS solution uniquely combines an innovative grid architecture with virtualization to build a cost-effective, file-based storage solution that enables organizations to create efficient storage pools that centralize sharing and management of massive amounts of NAS files. The benefits of this approach include unlimited storage capacity, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited processing capability and reliability beyond the limits of enterprise storage RAID.

“I selected Gridstore because I can get a scalable and reliable scale-out NAS system that provides me with enterprise features with minimal capital investment, and I don’t have to plan or pay for my future storage requirements today,” said Steve Garcia, systems and security administrator, Wenatchee Valley College. “We are implementing the [Gridstore Scale-out NAS solution] across our different departments and campuses; the system's combination of scalability and economies of scale are a very compelling value proposition for anyone who wants an on-demand storage solution that lets you add capacity on the fly with no performance or management headaches.”

The Gridstore storage platform is designed to eliminate the risk, cost and complexity of traditional silo-based storage and gives SMBs a “Pay as you Grow” pricing model that allows organizations to add storage as needed to eliminate the high cost of over provisioning and managing storage resources - while minimizing the reliability and risk of multiple NAS storage silos.

“Organizations are under the constant strain to do more with less in spite the fact that their storage demands continue to grow exponentially,” said Kelly Murphy, CEO, Gridstore. “Gridstore addresses the problem for organizations by providing a scale-out NAS solution that delivers the simplicity and reliability they require to transparently grow and manage their virtualized storage infrastructure – at a price tag they can afford.”

Moderated by Henry Baltazar of the 451 Group, the Disruptive Technologies panel is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. PDT on September 15. It features executives from companies considered truly disruptive to the marketplace, whether from a unique sales model, innovative pricing structure or a twist on technology. Each company will have a few minutes to describe what they do and why it is disruptive with a Q&A to follow.

“The growing need for cloud and virtualization architectures is creating challenges that are opening up opportunities for a new generation of vendors to provide disruption, which is what an event like the ExecEvent is all about,” said Baltazar. “We have gathered a group of storage innovators who have the potential to reshape how we utilize key technologies such as flash and also provide innovative architectures for cloud storage and long term data retention – and to keep things interesting we will be opening up questioning by the audience to challenge our participants and make sure this is a not-to-be-missed panel.”

@TreehouseInteractive's 4 Tips for Creating Personas in Modern Marketing - http://bit.ly/rtQgco

Really, Who Are They?

4 Tips for Persona Building in Modern Marketing - http://bit.ly/rtQgco
Author: Erich Flynn, TreeHouse Interactive CEO

One of the basic things any marketer should do when they come into an organization is understand who your customers are and who your prospects should be. If you don’t, you spin your wheels working off of assumptions. The sad truth is that while many marketers understand the concept of creating personas, few have done the work beyond creating a mental picture of their buyers. That’s dangerous. Making assumptions about terminology your buyers use, their technology savviness, demographics or—more importantly—their buying motivations can disconnect you from them.

You can’t market effectively to buyers if you don’t take the necessary steps to define who they are from multiple perspectives, know what their company role is and the issues they face, and how they measure success. Equally important is making that persona information part of your shared corporate knowledge.

Visit http://bit.ly/rtQgco to read about the four tips for creating personas.

Queplix Offers Best Practices for Data Integration by Author: Michael Zuckerman, CMO, Queplix

The explosion in information technologytools and capability has accelerated. Our information technology environment is moving at absolute light-speed. Yet, the back of data integration is broken. 90% of customers are using 20-year old ETL technology designed to move batch files into the data warehouse at 1:00 am. It is a manual process. Worst of all, is that some vendors have even put this 20-year old technology in their newly minted 1-year old cloud. Who wants 20-year old technology in a 1-year old cloud?

To add insult to injury, data quality is … “another product.” I humbly submit that without resolving data quality issues and providing for their ongoing maintenance, you cannot integrate even two applications, load your data warehouse, consider a future Virtual MDM deployment.

The cause of this is simple. Look at the revenue mix for the two major vendors that control the market for large enterprise. Their business is about professional services – not software tools. They are in business to sell you, their customer, as much professional services at the highest rates you can imagine. Legacy ETL technology is a bonanza to a company that sells your company services by the hour.
Even worse, they don’t offer you the right mix of services and technology. The integration was done to specification but it doesn’t seem to work. I guess we’ll just have to sell you additional consulting to do the data quality clean-up.

The five best practices in data integration break this model. Queplix turns the model upside down. By using advanced data virtualization, and pushing back at the legacy monopoly attached to your wallet, you can reduce your costs and speed your time to implementation.
