@Gridstore named Red Herring Americas Top 100 finalist for their Scale-out NAS solution http://bit.ly/wzKR4V
GRIDSTORE NAMED FINALIST FOR THE RED HERRING AMERICAS TOP 100 AWARD FOR ITS SCALE-OUT NAS SOLUTION
Mountain View, Calif. – February 17, 2012 – Gridstore™, the leader in scale-out storage solutions, today announced that the company has made the Red Herring Americas Top 100 short-list for its scale-out NAS solution. Red Herring is a global media company uniting the world's best high technology innovators, venture investors and business decision makers in a variety of forums: a leading innovation magazine, an online daily technology news service, technology newsletters, and major events for technology leaders around the globe. Red Herring provides an insider's access to the global innovation economy, featuring unparalleled insights on the emerging technologies driving the economy.
The Gridstore scale-out NAS solution uniquely combines virtualization with a grid processing platform to deliver a single pool of storage that simplifies management while increasing performance, scalability and reliability. The Gridstore system is designed for organizations that struggle with the risk, cost and complexity of storage sprawl and who need enterprise class storage without the problems associated with clustered storage approaches. The result is a disruptive storage platform designed from the ground up for the virtual data center that eliminates 20 years of legacy technology and eliminates the virtualization roadblocks of cost, complexity and performance that has limited wider adoption of the virtualized data center.
Finalists have made it through two of three phases. In phase one, judges eliminated companies based on viability of the business model in terms of technology focus and innovation, or lack thereof. The remainder of the companies left went through phase two, which consisted of a peer review where the judges reached out to experts, i.e., the venture capitalist community or analysts from large investment and consulting firms, to discuss the viability of a company’s business model and growth/revenue projections, the competitive landscape, and the big picture in that company’s sector.
“It is an honor to be named a finalist by Red Herring for the Americas Top 100 award,” said Kelly Murphy, CEO Gridstore. “This further validates our position as a game changing, scale-out storage solution that eliminates the complexity, risk and limitations of traditional, cluster-based storage models. With Gridstore, organizations now have an enterprise-class, scale-out NAS that delivers the simplicity and reliability they require - at half the cost of standalone NAS offerings.”
The finalists are invited to present their winning strategies at Red Herring Americas in Los Angeles, May 21-23, 2012. The top winners will be announced at a special awards dinner on May 23.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., February 15, 2012 -- Nexsan®, a leading independent provider of disk-based data storage systems, today announced results from a TechValidate user survey which reveal a high product satisfaction rate for Nexsan Assureon in applications that require long term data archiving, storage optimization and secure, compliant storage. The product received a high overall satisfaction rate, underscoring the value of the online archiving solution, especially in applications that require high file integrity, automated replication and adherence to disposition and retention policies.
In addition to customer satisfaction, the TechValidate study assessed key responses on top product usage, typical data retention periods, important product features and archive growth rates. The following topline results were based on 196 customers surveyed:
· Customers cited overall satisfaction of the Assureon Secure Online Archive for compliant data retention and storage optimization (93%).

· Customers also confirmed the rapid growth rates of their archives. Of those surveyed, the majority have archives that are growing between 20% and 30%, or more, annually (65%).
· The most important capabilities cited by customers were:

· Customers are also using Assureon to streamline backup operations and reduce costs by optimizing the storage environment (64%)
The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) selected the Assureon storage system to improve its object storage archive, assure regulatory compliance and seamlessly support its disaster recovery strategy. "I was impressed by Nexsan’s secure online archive," said John Jones, Desktop and Systems Supervisor for UTA. "We found significant value in the features and were even more surprised by the price. It was a fraction of that charged by other system vendors. With Assureon we reduced our backup window and significantly improved our overall storage efficiency. It has proven to be a very capable storage archive, both simple and reliable. You just set it and forget it."
Nexsan partners have also experienced superior reliability and performance with Nexsan. Another Assureon user, ATS Cloud, offers scalable EMR services that provide organizations of all sizes access to state-of-the-art technology. This allows their clients to enjoy Fortune 500-caliber IT functionality without the upfront infrastructure investment or internal staffing requirements. According to Randall Weyers, Cloud System Architect for ATS Cloud, “Assureon offers exceptional performance and scalability when used with our cloud-based EMR services. When we have a hospital that employs our solution for secure and compliant data storage, we are confident in the ability to deliver the service levels required without hesitation.”
Part of the Nexsan Flexible Storage Platform™ of products, Assureon is a secure online archive that is ideal for storage optimization, secure storage for regulatory and corporate compliance, and long-term data archiving. For storage optimization, Assureon offloads primary storage to free up space for active data and thereby reduces the size, time and costs of monthly full backups by completely eliminating the unstructured datasets from the backup stream. For regulatory and corporate compliance, Assureon complies with governmental regulatory requirements including HIPPA, SOX and SEC-17 and simplifies the enforcement of company data retention, privacy and protection policies.
“As a company dedicated to meeting the needs of its customers’ archiving requirements, we are honored to have achieved high customer satisfaction for our Assureon solution,” said Ed Apy, Vice President, Worldwide Assureon Sales, Nexsan. “To know that our products offer multiple value propositions to companies that have growing requirements, means that our focus on enterprise-class storage that is easy to use and efficient can have a direct impact on customer success.”

Atlantis Computing and Trend Micro Launch First VMware View Reference Architecture that Drives Down the Cost of a Desktop to as Low as $172 with ?Better than PC? User Experience
1,000 Desktop Deployment Blueprint Includes VMware View 5, View Persona, VMware ThinApp, Trend Micro Deep Security 8 and Atlantis ILIO
VMware Partner Exchange – Las Vegas, NV – February 14, 2012 – Atlantis Computing™, the leader in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) storage and performance optimization solutions and Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704), a global cloud security leader, today announced the release of the first VMware View 5 reference architectures for 1,000 persistent and non-persistent virtual desktops. The groundbreaking new reference architectures were developed by Atlantis Computing and Trend Micro with guidance from VMware and is the first to incorporate the latest technology from VMware View 5 including vSphere 5, View persona, ThinApp and View Planner as well as Trend Micro Deep Security 8 to secure every desktop.
This reference architecture documents the blueprint for scaling from 300 desktops to tens of thousands of users with Atlantis ILIO to drive down the infrastructure cost per desktop to $172 for non-persistent desktops and $234 for persistent desktops while delivering a rich user experience that users can embrace. The impact is a dramatic reduction of up to 94 percent in the cost of storage for VDI and a major boost in performance of View desktops.
“Successful VDI deployments have one thing in common. They are able to achieve the right balance of cost, user experience and security that is needed to compete with a physical PC and win over the CFO, the security team and most importantly the end users,” said Bernard Harguindeguy, CEO of Atlantis Computing. “Too often reference architectures are designed without consideration for cost or for critical security components like Anti-Virus to achieve better performance numbers. This reference architecture is unique because it documents exactly how to assemble the components, the cost of the infrastructure, and the performance of every application without having to bring in new hardware components to the architecture.”
VMware View 5 with Atlantis ILIO storage and performance optimization software enables customers to deploy virtual desktops at a lower cost, while at the same time boosting performance to new levels. Atlantis ILIO fundamentally changes the economics and performance characteristics of VMware View deployments by intelligently optimizing how the Windows operating system running on vSphere interacts with shared or local storage. Atlantis ILIO technologies include highly efficient processing within the vSphere hypervisor of both Windows NTFS storage IO traffic and inline deduplication of Windows images before they reach storage.
In the reference architecture, Trend Micro Deep Security 8 provides agentless security for virtual desktops without negatively impacting density or performance. The Deep Security virtual appliance integrates with vShield Endpoint APIs developed by VMware in collaboration with Trend Micro to offer the industry’s first anti-malware solution designed specifically to protect the vSphere platform without requiring an agent in the virtual machine.
“Security is a critical component of any VDI deployment and yet it is often not included in reference architectures because of the impact on server density and performance,” said Thomas J. Miller, President, Trend Micro US Commercial Operations. “This reference architecture showed that you can deliver the lowest possible infrastructure costs, an amazing user experience and leading edge security in a complete VDI solution that costs less, performs better and is more secure than a physical PC.”
Reference Architecture Results
• Cost Per Desktop – With Atlantis ILIO, the total infrastructure cost per desktop including the servers, storage and Atlantis ILIO license was $172 for a non-persistent desktop with local disk storage and $234 per desktop for a persistent desktop with shared SAN/NAS storage. Atlantis ILIO reduced the cost per desktop of the SAN/NAS by 94 percent for persistent desktops.
• Performance – With Atlantis ILIO, the architecture was able to deliver an average response time of 0.5 (local disk) to 0.7 seconds (SAN/NAS) for common applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, IE, Windows Media Player, Firefox and more. Atlantis ILIO provided 300 IOPS per desktop which is approximately 2x what a desktop PC would provide.
• Deployment Time – The testing showed that Atlantis ILIO new Fast Cloning feature enabled VMware View to deploy 1,000 persistent desktops with full clones in only 11 hours – instead of the 100 hours that it normally requires. This means that customers can deploy 1,000 virtual desktops 9 times faster in hours instead of 4+ days.
• Application Virtualization – VMware ThinApp was used to provide reliable and flexible application access resulting in improved launch times and performance.
• Security – Trend Micro Deep Security 8 provided industry leading anti-malware protections including anti-virus, integrity monitoring, intrusion prevention, web application protection, application control and firewalls without impacting the number of desktops that were used per server or degrading performance. The Atlantis ILIO virtual appliance worked alongside the Deep Security virtual appliance to handle IO storms and increase the performance of all desktops using Deep Security.

Through its cloud-based API, NTRglobal enables ISVs to seamlessly integrate its secure remote connectivity technology. “Being able to remotely manage and resolve a client’s IT infrastructure from anywhere at any time in a secure environment provides tangible value that can make MSPs more competitive,” says Gilles Samoun, CEO, NTRglobal. “By integrating the NTR Cloud into the N-central platform, we’re allowing N-able’s MSPs to take advantage of services that deliver even greater security, productivity and cost-savings.”
N-able Technologies President and COO JP Jauvin agrees. “Integrating the NTR Cloud gives N-able’s partners the flexibility and confidence to address a client’s IT concerns or technical issues remotely without hesitation in a secure environment. We see its reliable, fast connectivity and ability to support the strictest regulatory environments as a true win for our customer base.”
A webinar is scheduled for February 15 to highlight N-central’s remote desktop functionality. More information is available on the N-able website.

@Gridstore wins CloudComputing Excellence Award from TMCnet for their scale-out NAS storage - http://bit.ly/y8gs4J
Gridstore's Scale-Out Storage Solution Wins the 2011 Cloud Computing Excellence Award Sponsored by Cloud Computing Magazine
Mountain View, Calif. – February 1, 2012 – Gridstore™, the leader in grid based, scale-out storage solutions, today announced that the company has been awarded the first Cloud Computing Excellence Award from TMC. Gridstore was selected as one of the top 30 companies that most effectively leveraged cloud computing in efforts to bring new, differentiated offerings to market. The winners will be published in the January 2012 issue of Cloud Computing Magazine.
With Gridstore’s scale-out storage solution small and medium sized organizations enjoy simple plug and play scaling of capacity, IO and performance without the cost, complexity and 3X capacity bloat of first-generation cluster based offerings. Gridstore’s unique grid based NAS is the only scale-out solution that provides a fault tolerant system designed to withstand multiple, simultaneous failures without downtime or data loss to ensure customers can run 24/7 non-stop. Gridstore allows customers to start small and grow capacity to any size required simply by adding storage nodes to their network. This eliminates the need for customers to over provision storage and removes the risk and cost of standalone storage silos common with traditional storage approaches.
“We continue to see strong adoption of storage applications in the cloud and we are honored to be recognized for our innovation and leadership by Cloud Computing Magazine,” said Kelly Murphy, CEO Gridstore. “Receiving the top storage software award for our scale-out storage solution is further validation of our building block approach to storage that offers enterprise-class performance, simplicity, reliability and scalability – at an affordable price for any organization.”
