Leading Analyst Christine Taylor of the Taneja Group to Present Best Practices for Exchange Administrators to Prepare for eDiscovery Collections
WASHINGTON, DC October 3, 2011 – Metalogix Software, the trusted provider of content lifecycle management solutions for Microsoft® SharePoint®, Exchange®, and Cloud platforms, today announced a webinar which will help companies prepare Microsoft Exchange email for eDiscovery collections. The webinar, titled “Preparing for eDiscovery,” will take place on October 4, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. EST. Christine Taylor, strategic analyst at Taneja Group, and Patrick Dowling, vice president of business development at Metalogix, will be presenting.
eDiscovery is hitting Exchange administrators hard in mid-tier businesses because administrators are responsible for collecting this enormous volume of Exchange data, often housed across multiple servers and backup tapes. In this webinar, Patrick Dowling will discuss how Metalogix Archive Manager – Exchange Edition allows administrators to perform eDiscovery rapidly and conveniently in a defined and repeatable workflow.
Christine Taylor, analyst of the Taneja Group, will bring insight by going step-by-step through the eDiscovery process and discuss what IT and Exchange administrators can do to address the problem proactively. Christine has researched and written extensively on the role of technology in eDiscovery, compliance and governance, and information management and will share best practices for addressing these challenges.
“eDiscovery tends to focus on Exchange because of email’s role as the de facto platform for communication and collaboration within and between organizations,” said Patrick Dowling, vice president of business development, Metalogix. “Without third party tools, performing electronic data discovery in reaction to litigation in Exchange environments is a nightmare and this burden has consistently fallen on IT staff members who are unequipped to react and stretched for time to perform complex and non-standard processes. Email archiving solutions like Archive Manager – Exchange Edition not only provide the functionality and workflow to perform eDiscovery, but also free up the Exchange administrator by enabling more appropriate non-IT staff to focus on executing the eDiscovery process without violating data security, integrity or privacy concerns.”
Archive Manager - Exchange Edition reduces email storage costs by up to 80 percent and reduces backup and recovery times by 50 percent. It has successfully archived billions of emails and has simplified the jobs of thousands of customers worldwide. It is easy to install and is transparent to end users, while providing feature-rich search and legal hold capabilities. External email archiving complements Exchange 2010 to meet industry standards for Exchange performance and ensure legal compliance with more secure data retention and rapid eDiscovery.

METALOGIX BREAKS SHAREPOINT MIGRATION SPEED BARRIER, MOVING OVER 500GB PER DAY, FOR HIGH FIDELITY SHAREPOINT UPGRADES
New Product Releases Radically Increase the Speed of SharePoint Migrations and Upgrades by 1000% and Reduces the Time to Externalize SharePoint Content by Half
Anaheim, CA – SharePoint Conference – October 3, 2011 – Metalogix Software, the trusted provider of content lifecycle management solutions for Microsoft® SharePoint®, Exchange® and Cloud platforms, today announced major new product releases to address the ever-increasing size of SharePoint farms since the launch of SharePoint 2010.
Metalogix Migration Manager for SharePoint 5.0 includes powerful performance enhancements to address the operational need for speed when moving, upgrading or migrating SharePoint, including multithreading technology. These performance enhancements provide radical gains in migration speeds, while simultaneously ensuring high fidelity movement and integrity of SharePoint environments. Additionally, the Company announced enhancements to Metalogix StoragePoint, with performance enhanced job timing automation that reduces Binary Large Objects (BLOB) externalization processing time up to 50%. Together, these innovative solutions empower a faster SharePoint migration, simplified SharePoint management as well as optimizing SharePoint storage both on-premises and in the cloud.
“More than 66% of enterprises have deployed SharePoint and half of those organizations classify it as a top-five business application,” said Brian Babineau, vice president, research and analyst services, Enterprise Strategy Group. “Organizations should assume that SharePoint will fall into the ‘mission-critical’ category, if they haven’t already accepted this reality, and that the optimization of the environment—from provisioning, security, data mobility, and storage—has to be thought of and addressed holistically. The latest releases from Metalogix for content lifecycle management deliver compelling value for the overall performance of SharePoint and provide this holistic approach necessary for improved management, migration and storage efficiency.”
Dramatically Faster SharePoint Migrations
Metalogix Migration Manager for SharePoint 5.0, available this week in beta for existing customers, speeds site migrations and upgrades from days to minutes non-disruptively. Early lab testing of the new architecture shows more than 1000% performance improvement by leveraging sophisticated multithreading techniques. Using multithreading, Migration Manager for SharePoint can split migration tasks over multiple operations and run them simultaneously for record migration performance. Metalogix Migration Manager, considered the de facto standard for SharePoint migration and upgrades, also offers enhanced incremental copy intelligence that enables it to skip seamlessly over settings and content that doesn’t need to be migrated.
The new feature is especially useful for SharePoint environments with multiple layers of sub-sites.
When combined with the new Metalogix StoragePoint v3 series release(s), Metalogix Migration Manager for SharePoint drastically improves SharePoint migration performance by extending the use of proprietary “shallow copy” technology—customers with the largest files see the most benefit since all of the data does not need to be copied in the migration, such as document libraries or list attachments. StoragePoint enables organizations to offload unstructured content BLOBs from SharePoint content databases into lower cost storage systems and reduce their SQL content databases size by 95%. StoragePoint 3.2 has been enhanced to include performance automation improvements that distribute workload across servers, increasing BLOB externalization speed by up to 50%. The new version also includes a new migration scenario that catalogs content before executing a migration job as well as an improved File Share Librarian feature that supports multiple mappings of file share content per site collection.
“We had close to 200GB of storage in a single SharePoint content database,” said Matt Adkins, Microsoft Systems Lead, Liberty University. “It was really complicating things when it came to backups. We needed to optimize our SharePoint storage to improve performance and data protection processes. StoragePoint enables Liberty to keep its unstructured BLOB content such as PDFs, JPEG images and Microsoft Word documents out of SharePoint’s content databases and offload them onto virtually any mix of SAN, NAS or Cloud Storage. Just a couple of hours after installation, the university began to see immediate ROI by enabling it to leverage more cost-effective storage without sacrificing performance, functionality or user experience.”
Office 365 and Hybrid Cloud Support
Additionally, Metalogix Migration Manager for SharePoint was the first SharePoint migration product to support remote connections to SharePoint. With the latest product update, customers now have a number of connection options to SharePoint servers. The supported source servers include SharePoint Portal Server 2003 (SPS), WSS 2, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS), WSS 3, SharePoint Server 2010 and SharePoint Foundation 2010. In fact, Migration Manager for SharePoint is the only solution Microsoft has approved for installation in the Microsoft data centers for Office 365 dedicated or the Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS-D).This approval is for the Microsoft SharePoint Online Code Analysis Framework (MSOCAF) in Office 365. For more information on Office 365 support with Migration Manager for SharePoint, click here: http://www.metalogix.com/News-Detail/11-06-27/Metalogix_Announces_General_Availability_Of_Microsoft_Office_365_Support_With_Metalogix_Migration_Manager_For_SharePoint.aspx
Since Migration Manager for SharePoint can connect to SharePoint servers using the native web services and SharePoint 2010 client object model, Metalogix customers can also copy data back and forth between the cloud and on-premises – ideal for hybrid cloud SharePoint architectures. Operations can be scheduled and then run at any time to create a two-way sync option. This offers powerful freedom to manage and move between on-premises and the cloud--whether it be a private cloud, multi-tenant environment, hybrid cloud or some combination.
The Power to Realize the Complete Value of SharePoint 2010
With Metalogix Migration Manager for SharePoint 5.0 series organizations can quickly benefit from many of the powerful enhancements available in SharePoint 2010. New, key features of Migration Manager for SharePoint that accelerate the value proposition for SharePoint 2010 include:
• Migrate Term Stores from SP 2010 to SP 2010: Customers can consolidate their taxonomy when they consolidate their SharePoint servers. Less servers results in simplified SharePoint management.
• User-Friendly Auto-Complete Feature to Add SharePoint Terms Using File Share Edition: This feature is a user-friendly way for customers to tag file share items before they get migrated to SharePoint. This speeds the ability to leverage the power of a centralized taxonomy on SharePoint 2010.
• Re-Templating to SharePoint 2010 Templates: A migration to SharePoint 2010 can be quickly enhanced with the newer, improved SharePoint 2010 templates if desired, rather than retaining the original site template designs.
“The hyper-growth of SharePoint over the next two years should be characterized as a SharePoint-palooza and having the fastest and most cost effective solutions to efficiently manage, migrate, store, archive and protect content throughout its entire lifecycle is going to be an operational imperative,” said Steven Murphy, CEO, Metalogix. “Our newly announced high-performance and increasingly cost-effective content lifecycle management solutions allow organizations to move, search and backup content faster than any other ISV – increasing your ability to scale, consolidate and simplify the management while reducing the total lifecycle costs of business critical Microsoft content on-premises or in the cloud.”

MULTINATIONAL REAL ESTATE FIRM, KNIGHT FRANK LLP STANDARDIZES ON SHAREPOINT MIGRATION, MANAGEMENT AND DATA PROTECTION SOLUTIONS FROM METALOGIX
Metalogix Migration Manager for SharePoint and StoragePoint Solutions Streamline Move from SharePoint 2007 to 2010 While Reducing Storage Resources and Management Overhead
Anaheim CA –SharePoint Conference – October 3, 2011– Metalogix Software, the trusted provider of content lifecycle management solutions for Microsoft® SharePoint®, Exchange®, and Cloud platforms, today announced that Knight Frank, a multinational real estate and property service firm, has standardized on Metalogix’s suite of solutions for SharePoint migration, management and data protection. Selecting Metalogix Migration Manager for SharePoint, Metalogix StoragePoint and Metalogix Selective Restore Manager for SharePoint, Knight Frank is able to speed its move from SharePoint 2007 to 2010 while reducing overall storage resource requirements and management overhead.
ClearPeople, a London based Metalogix partner and SharePoint business solution specialist, worked closely with Knight Frank devising their SharePoint 2007 to 2010 strategy. The main challenges that the Knight Frank SharePoint team faced was the method by which best to manage content in a SharePoint 2010 environment and to bring across only business relevant documents from existing file shares and content already harnessed in SharePoint 2007. Knight Frank found the Metalogix StoragePoint Librarian solution to be the perfect match in their strategy of incrementally moving only up-to-date documents from their file shares to SharePoint over an extended time period.
“The Metalogix product set covered all the bases of Knight Frank’s wisely formulated SharePoint strategy,” said Gabriel Karawani, head of business solutions, ClearPeople. “Furthermore, it was very clear that the Metalogix products were by far the front-runner when investigating the global market place for suitable products”.
Knight Frank LLP was founded in London in 1896. Knight Frank together with its New York-based affiliate Newmark Knight Frank is one of the world's leading independent global property consultancies. It has 207 offices in 43 countries, with staff of over 6,000. The group handled over $886 billion worth of commercial, agricultural and residential real estate in 2008-2009, advising clients ranging from individual owners and buyers to major developers, investors and corporate tenants.
The company relies on SharePoint as its company-wide collaboration and communication solution. Recently, the organization determined that it was time to migrate from its current SharePoint 2007 platform to SharePoint 2010 so that it could improve user productivity. The project, at first, seemed very daunting since Knight Frank had more than 700GB on a single content database. Even worse, the bloated database was causing backup problems and single document restores were very difficult to achieve. After evaluating point solutions from a few separate vendors, Knight Frank selected a suite of solutions from Metalogix for its comprehensive feature set, common user interface and strong SharePoint integration. After implementation of StoragePoint began, their database has been reduced from 700GB to 48GB.
“We needed a simplified solution to aid in our migration from SharePoint 2007 to 2010, while also enabling us to restore various items from the backup files,” said James White, technical architect, Knight Frank. “Metalogix offered a comprehensive suite of solutions to help us reduce our database size and migrate our content to the new SharePoint version while also enabling us to restore individual files and documents for seamless data protection. Plus, they offered it all with the continuity of a common user interface from a single vendor that is renowned for its superior SharePoint integration capabilities.”
For Knight Frank’s SharePoint content database, Metalogix StoragePoint externalizes SharePoint content Binary Large Objects (BLOBs), so that they may be stored on less expensive or more appropriate storage systems. This means their SQL clusters can be right-sized for optimal performance and the size of the SharePoint content database can be dramatically reduced while still maintaining critical metadata in the SQL Server SharePoint to ensure content is easily discovered and retrieved for ease of management within SharePoint.
Supporting Knight Frank’s migration from SharePoint 2007 to 2010, Metalogix Migration Manager for SharePoint uses a familiar copy-and-paste-style user interface which allows the company to quickly and transparently migrate all SharePoint sites, libraries, lists, web parts and permissions between servers.
For those individual documents and list items stored in native SharePoint backups, Knight Frank will use Selective Restore Manager for SharePoint to simplify the process of restoring items, all without having to rebuild the entire product database or deploy a temporary SharePoint recovery farm. Now Knight Frank is able to connect directly to its native SQL Server backup files, and navigate them as though they were live SharePoint sites.
“For customers like Knight Frank, Metalogix offers the suite of SharePoint migration, management and data protection products they need to simplify and optimize their current environment while reducing the risks associated with critical content migrations, document restores and data protection,” said Steven Murphy, CEO Metalogix. “We match the value of our solutions with world-class support services and the assurance of knowing that our products have been developed closely with Microsoft to adhere to their mandated SharePoint APIs so that integration is seamless and secure.”

Video Product Overview: Nexsan E60 Storage System Brings Industry-Leading Disk Storage Density and Power Efficiency to the Mid-Market
Nexsan E60 – Network Storage for Mid-Market Requirements - http://bit.ly/o5bXgT
The E60 is Nexsan’s latest generation of SAN storage, delivering a suite of enterprise-class features with industry-leading
density, power efficiency, and reliability. A member of Nexsan’s Flexible Storage Platform of products, the E60 provides up to 60 drives in 4U of rack space with the ability to save up to 87% on power, making it perfect for power constrained data center environments and green IT initiatives.
The Nexsan E60 delivers a quick and easy out of the box experience by integrating reliable Nexsan storage hardware and E-Series intelligence. It features up to 180TB of storage and the ability to mix and match SATA/SAS/SSD drives. The system includes Nexsan’s next-generation storage controller with two 8 Gb/s FC and two 1 Gb/s iSCSI ports per controller. Two controllers per system are available.
Innovations include:
Active Drawer Technology - This revolutionary approach to extreme density simplifies the maintenance of a high density system
by offering specially designed cables for continuous operation even when one of three self-contained drawers is momentarily opened so a single person can perform disk and fan service.
AutoMAID® Technology – This technology delivers “Speed with Green” for up to 87% reduction in power consumption without performance compromise for popular applications such as backup to disk. With the E-Series AutoMAID is extended with Level 4 capabilities, to enable even more power savings.
